Dealing with Difficulties

Not Complaining about the Difficulties of the Mission

By: Stormy Curtis

1 Peter 4:8-9

Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins. Show hospitality to one another without grumbling.

As we venture out on the Mission before us, to go and make disciples of the nations, are we just to tell of God’s love and abounding grace and mercy, or shouldn’t we show it as well? After all, doesn’t the message get through a lot better when we are.

When faced with a difficult situation, or a difficult person we have been called to serve, it’s really easy to grumble and complain about what we are called to do. What’s not easy is staying humble, and serving others with the truth and love of Jesus. Every part of the body, and every leg of the mission is equally important. God loves us with an everlasting love and wants us to look at others and see them how He sees them. How much easier would it be to love others, if we could see them through the eyes of our heavenly Father?

Reflection Questions

God doesn’t tell us that we won't face struggles, or that life will be easy, He tells us that He will be there with us as we go through it. How does our perspective change when we know that God is with us?

Next time you are facing a difficult situation, instead of praying for God to get you out of it, or instead of grumbling about it,  try praying for grace in how you handle the situation, and remember that it’s all part of God’s plan.
